Maniupura (Solar Plexus Chakra) Balancing Smoothie

Manipura, also known as the third or solar plexus chakra, is the energetic power center located in the belly. This chakra is responsible for our sense of self, ego and identity, having much to do with our personal motivation and confidence. When it’s out of alignment, one may feel a sense of arrogance and agression, or inversely, one may feel they are lacking purpose, self esteem and drive. Imbalances in either direction may manifest in the physical body as digestive/gastric issues(nausea, ulcers, overeating, etc.) as this chakra governs the gut and its emotional brain. Balancing this chakra is essential for proper function of the energetic and spiritual body.

Inspiration

Not to be overly witchy woo-woo, but food plays such a vital impact on our daily function and it is so important to be mindful of what we are consuming. Food is the magic, as well as the medicine. Our body is the transient home of the soul and we must treat it well so it will treat the soul well in return. It’s that easy, and balancing the flow of energy in the physical and spiritual body through conscious effort and eating habits is totally possible.

What is a chakra?

As conscious beings, we possess energy centers, or chakras, that help to absorb prana and life force from the cosmos. When these centers are blocked or out of alignment, energy is unable to flow freely, and the balance of our spiritual self is not able to reach its full potential. Therefore, purifying each chakra is essential to allowing the full functionality of our highest selves and true potential.

We possess many energy centers throughout the body, but there are seven main ones. This post focuses on the chakra, Manipura. Click here if you want to learn more about balancing Manipura.

Manipura

Manipura is associated with the color yellow, as this color symbolizes energy, youth, and intellect. It also symbolizes our relationship with the sun and fire, two things that are absolutely crucial to our human existence.

Eating foods that contain the color yellow may help to balance this chakra, therefore this smoothie is made with banana, mango, lemon, ginger, and turmeric. Other yellow foods that may help to balance this chakra include but are not limited to pineapple, corn, squash, peaches, yellow bell peppers, parsnips, pears, etc.

Manipura is also associated with the element of fire. It represents the fire within us, or the motivation and internal drive to fulfill our personal dreams and utmost desires. It is the spark within the core of self that yearns to strive for our highest potential.

Eating warming, or spicy foods may help to balance this chakra, therefore this smoothie contains warming spices such as ginger and turmeric. Other warming foods that may help to balance this chakra include but are not limited to apricots, yellow carrots, yellow tomatoes, and almonds.
