5-Ingredient Date Truffles

The best kind of snacks are the ones that have that grab-n-go quality, an element of decadence, and offer quality energy and nourishment. Spoiler alert: these date truffles are one of those snacks. And they’re phenomenal.

Inspiration

My chocolate craving has been at an all-time high recently. But instead of actually snacking on chocolate, I figured I’d utilize ingredients I had on hand to make a more energy-friendly, sweet-tooth pleaser. Dates and nuts are one of my favorite combos of all time. Plus the two individually or combined are packed with nutrients, they’re energy-dense, and they’re are freakin’ delicious. Accordingly, date truffles have always been a favorite because they’re sooooo simple and quick to make. Plus the results are always incredible. So if you want something sweet and satisfying but don’t have a lot of time on your hands or are just human and feeling lazy, I gotcha.

How to make 5-Ingredient Date Truffles

Seriously, with only 5 ingredients and at 10 minutes of your time, you’ll have a sweet treat that is:

Decadent

Rich

Filling

& Wholesome

Add all of the ingredients to a food processor.

Just a couple of ingredients and bada-bing bada-boom you’ve got it. Add the pitted dates, walnuts, cacao powder, and salt to a food processor and process for about a minute or until there are no large chunks. The more fine the mixture is, the better it will stick.

If you don’t have a food processor, you could use a blender, but I find that this recipe works MUCH better with a food processor.

Scoop out the mixture and form even-sized balls

Once you’ve processed the mixture, scoop out about an eighth of the mixture and then roll it in between your palms to form a ball. Roll with a little bit of pressure to encourage the ball to stick together.

Roll the balls in hemp seeds

Get out a bowl and fill it with hemp seeds. Once you’ve formed a date ball, place it in the bowl with the hempseeds and roll it around until it has been evenly coated.

Serving

Once the balls have been rolled in the hempseeds they’re ready to be eaten! For a more firm result, try refrigerating them prior to eating. Snack on a couple before a workout for a quick energy boost, while you’re hiking, while you’re stoned, or even as a midnight snack.

Storing

These truffles can be store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week.
